We've been converting Dahon bikes to electric since 2007. Over that time period there have been huge improvements in the motors and hardware. On this model we decided to fit one of the 'Boost Electric Conversions' that have been widely advertised. We built the motor into a 20" wheel, Selected a Dahon Ikon frameset and built the rest of the bike with Dahon parts. For comfort and low rolling resistance we used Schwalbe Big Apple Tyres together with appropriate wider mudguards, a Sturdy Tern Rear Rack to hold the Basil bag with small fold down panniers and use some of the top bag capacity to hide the Boost Battery. This has the advantage of keeping the battery out the elements as well as enhancing the overal appearance of the bike.
These Kits are not designed to be the most powerful (for more power we use central motors) but are very neat and have minimal wiring.as they have a bluetooth connection between the LCD Display and Controller or your Mobile Phone and controller using the App. We suggest you find out more about 'Boost from their own website https://boostbike.uk/shop
We recommend this system if you just need a bit of help on the inclines and to battle against the wind etc. but do not represent it as being in anyway similar to the power of a Bosch Performance system as used on the folding Tern Vectron or KTM Macina Fold.
